Project Description
Marta Soler-Gallart, Harvard PhD, is Full Professor of Sociology at the University of Barcelona and Director of CREA Research Centre at the same university. She serves at the Executive Committee of the European Sociological Association, is Governing Board member of the European Alliance for the Social Sciences and Humanities, and Editor in Chief of the Journal “International Sociology”. Between 2014 and 2016 she was the only researcher at the ORCID Board of Directors for her expertise on social impact assessment. She is Knowledge Management Coordinator for the project IMPACT-EV, funded by the Framework Programme 7th (FP7) of the European Commission, which aims at developing a system and indicators for the evaluation of scientific, political and social impacts of research. She is also main researcher of the research project SOLIDUS, funded by H2020 European Commission, on the study of solidarity in Europe during times of crisis. Previously she had been Knowledge Management Coordinator of the FP6 research project INCLUD-ED, which was the only research in social sciences selected by the European Commission among the ten success stories of the Framework Programme in all scientific fields.
She has also been expert evaluator for the Framework Programme of Research of the European Commission in different actions such as Cooperative research projects, Science with and For Society projects or Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships. She has published in journals such as Current Sociology, Qualitative Inquiry, Reading Research Quarterly or Nature, and co-authored the book “Language and Social Sciences” with John Searle. She has recently released the book “Achieving Social Impact. Sociology in the Public Sphere” published by Springer-Nature.
