Dr Hatem M’Henni is an economics professor at the Higher School of Commerce in Tunis. His research and teaching interests cover the economic and social impact of digitalization on the economy, science and technology indicators and information systems’ policies. He had been chief counselor to the Minister of Scientific Research on planning and prospective issues between 2004 and 2007, and as of 2007 to 2009, General Director of the National Observatory for Science and Technology. Hatem M’Henni has also been a member of the Advisory Steering Committee of the Centre for Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators (CESTII) in South Africa, and of the technical team in charge of the setting out of the African Observatory for Science, Technology, and Innovation in Equatorial Guinea. He has also been a member of the scientific committee of the Arab League Organization for Culture and Science and of many other scientific and economic research networks.
Dr M’Henni has taken part, within the framework of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), to the discussion and implementation of science and technology observatories in many African countries, namely Egypt, Jordan and Qatar. He is also often sought out as advisor, consultant or trainer by a number of international institutions like UNESCO Statistics Institute, the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, the Arab League Organization for Culture and Science (ALECSO) and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (ASTII, NEPAD-AU).
